Kafka’s The Trial describes the trial experience of the modern man K. The trial not only means that his personal life experience deviates from the state of authenticity, but also is a metaphor that modern people abandon well-rounded horizon of the classical world and desire becomes their unconscious action paradigm. The experience of K’s desire and his life status of the self being covered reveal a hidden clue in Kafka’s text: a dialectical relationship between “law” and “sin”. Based on this reflection, Kafka provides a path of liberation for modern man: “sin” contains potential power of transformation, and “guilty” is superior to “innocence”;Only being conscious of his own “sin” will K. be able to challenge the legitimacy of the court by “thinking”, reflect the real existence of man being covered so as to enter the gate of law and conduct self-trial and salvation.
