A Review of Studies on Umberto Eco’s Thought on Translation

摘　　要：艾柯翻译思想深深扎根于其实践经验及阐释符号学沃土之中,具有重要理论与应用价值。目前,国内外研究聚焦于其合作翻译行为及其对忠实、等值、文本意图、模范读者、阐释与过度阐释等问题的探讨,但书评性文章居多,专题性研究偏少,对其多样化翻译实践和翻译思想的考察还不够深入,对其翻译符号观、翻译阐释观和翻译协商论之理论与现实意义的反思还有待加强。Umberto Eco’s thought on translation, deeply rooted in his translation experience and interpretive semiotics,bears important theoretical and practical implications. Previous studies focus mainly on Eco’s collaborative translation with his translators, and his conceptualization of fidelity, equivalence, the intention of the text, model reader, and interpretation versus over-interpretation. But there are more book reviews than articles and monographs, hence in lack of in-depth discussions. It is suggested that Eco’s diversified translation practices and his thought on translation merit further investigations, particularly the theoretical and practical implications of his translation semiotics, hermeneutics of translation and negotiation theory of translation.
