摘  要:典籍人名是中国古代文化的重要标志,具有所指的世界唯一性和内在的民族文化张力。在一定条件下,典籍人名可以被转义使用,并获得鲜活的修辞功能。典籍人名翻译应采取音译并辅以人物身份类或特征类信息的厚重翻译方法。音译典籍人名能够保证其所指的世界唯一性,再现其人“真面目”。普通类典籍人名音译后,还需要增补其生卒年份、身份、地位、职业或成就等信息,以利于目的语读者建构其身份。转义类典籍人名音译后,也应增补其形象、性格、品质或特征等方面的信息,帮助目的语读者理解、体会典籍人名的转义与修辞功能。这对于中国典籍对外译介中保持中华民族文化身份具有重要意义。The personal names in ancient Chinese classics are an important symbol of ancient Chinese culture with unique referents, they have internal tension of national culture. In certain contexts, some names can be semantically transferred, thus obtaining rhetorical functions. In light of this, to ensure that their referents and national cultural tension remain unchanged in the target language, the technique of transliteration is suggested to translate the personal names. Besides, the personal names, literally used, should be annotated with brief information on the persons’ date of birth and death, status, vocation or achievements so that their identities could be easily established by the target readership, and those personal names,semantically transferred, should be supplemented with information on the persons’ images, characters, quality, etc. So that their rhetorical function could be reproduced in the target language. Transliterating the personal names plus annotation or supplementation will be conducive to maintain the identity of the Chinese culture in the international dissemination of the ancient Chinese classics.
