琵琶声语入西国——克莱默-宾《玉琵琶》汉诗英译考论

摘　　要：作为以诗人身份向英美世界译介汉诗的第一人,克莱默-宾出版了一系列汉诗译著,包括《长恨歌及其他》《诗经》《玉琵琶》《宫灯的飨宴》。除此之外,他还致力于出版“东方智慧丛书”。虽然其译作出自转译且不乏错讹,但克莱默-宾的诗人气质使他的译文风格更加自由浪漫,对西方文学界、音乐界均产生了一定影响,由此打开了中西方文学艺术交流的新路径。本文将以克莱默-宾《玉琵琶》为例,考辨其选译的诗歌来源,分析该书的译介策略,肯定克莱默-宾为尝试沟通中西方文化所做出的努力。As the first poet translating Chinese classical poetry into the English world,L.A.Cranmer-Byng has published a series of works,including The never-ending wrong(1902),Book of Odes(1906),A Lute of Jade,A Feast of Lanterns(1916).Besides,he also devoted himself into publishing The wisdom of the east series.Though his translation belongs to free translation and it contains some errors,his poetical temperament makes his translation more free and romantic,which has a certain impact on the western circle of literature and music.His translation also opens a new way for literary communication between the east and the west.Taking A Lute of Jade as an example,this paper will identify the original poems and analyze its translation strategy.It aims to praise L.A.Cranmer-Byng’s efforts on Sino-Western cultural exchanges.
