In ancient Chinese music education, the relationship between music and rites has a long history.Since the pre-Qin period, there has been a saying of"disrespect and no music"."Rites"and"music"have a close relationship and are inseparable. From the pre-Qin Dynasty to the Han Dynasty, the music education thought of"rites and music"ran through ancient China, and educators often referred to"rites and music"."No etiquette,no standing."In the ancient Chinese moral system,"rites"was second only to"benevolence".Confucius believed that"rites"was the basis of people's standing.Obviously, the music education practice of"rites and music"integration is particularly prominent in ancient Chinese music education. From the perspective of music philology, this paper explores the music education thought of"rites and music"in ancient China, discusses the dialectical relationship between"rites"and"music",and explains the important position of the music education thought of"rites and music"in ancient China and its practical significance in music education today.
