中国高校校本大学英语教学大纲制定依据——兼论大学英语教学中通用英语和专门用途英语的定位

摘　　要：在高校大学英语学分普遍压缩的情况下,许多高校依然根据教育部《大学英语教学指南》的三个培养目标和三类课程来设计教学大纲和课程,把通用英语和跨文化交际等课程设置为必修课程,占去绝大多数学分。本文认为大学英语应根据学校办学定位和社会需求,主要开展满足大学生从事专业学习与工作英语需求的专门用途英语教学。通用英语和反映西方和中国文化的跨文化交际等课程不应是必修课程,可将其内容融入专门用途英语教学。Many colleges and universities still design their college English guidelines and curriculums on the basis of three aims stated in College English Curriculum Guidelines against the background of the considerable reduction of college English credits.The basic and intermediate courses of English for general purposes(EGP)accounts for the high percentage of the credit hours and cross-cultural education is still the required course.We argue that the ultimate purpose of college English is to meet students'needs for their discipline-specific studies and for their future careers.Therefore,English for specific purposes(ESP)should be the main courses while the content of ECP and crosscultural courses might be integrated into ESP.
