摘　　要：《法华经》是大乘佛教的重要经典之一,有着近两百年的英译史。以历史语境为切入点和主线,从历时性视阈分别考察《法华经》英译肇始期、发展期和繁荣期的阶段特征,分析《法华经》英译嬗变背后的政治、经济、文化等影响因素,可以发现《法华经》的英译活动与殖民主义的兴衰和东亚儒家文化圈的兴衰密切相关。在中华文化复兴之际,《法华经》的译介嬗变或可为中华优秀传统文化“走出去”提供一些思考和启示。The Lotus Sutra,an important scripture in Mahayana Buddhism,has a nearly 200-year history of English translation.Taking the historical context as the entry point and main thread,the present paper examines the stage characteristics of the initiation,development,and prosperity of the English translation of The Lotus Sutra from a diachronic perspective.It then analyzes the political,economic,and cultural factors behind the evolution of its English translation.The research finds that the English translation activities of The Lotus Sutra are closely related to the rise and fall of colonialism and the rise and fall of the East Asian Confucian cultural sphere.In the revival of Chinese culture,the evolution of the translation of The Lotus Sutra may provide some insights into and inspirations for the globalization of traditional Chinese culture.
