辜鸿铭《论语》翻译的跨文化互释

摘　　要：在鸦片战争后西学东传的背景下,辜鸿铭坚持“东学西行”,向西方宣传以儒家思想为核心的中国文化。辜鸿铭的“交互”文化背景和他对中国文化的高度认同使他在特殊的历史文化语境下采取“以西释中”的翻译策略来推介中国文化。其翻译策略主要表现在以下四个方面:多维对话,沟通中西文化;概念拆解,凸显儒学思想的普世价值;文体套嵌,增强读者认知;意象比拟,消除读者陌生感。辜鸿铭使用“以西释中”方式对《论语》进行重新解读和阐释,丰富了原文本意义,找到了中国文化在西方的阐释和表达方式。其译文本呈现给读者的是中西两种文化、思想的对等和互补。After the Opium War,westernlearning spread to the East.In the background,Gu Hongming insisted on Chinese culture going out,and spreading Chinese culture with Confucianism to the West.Gu's“interactive”cultural background and his high sense of identity to Chinese culture make him adopt the translation strategy of western-culture-oriented interpretation to promote Chinese culture in the special historical and cultural context.Its translation strategies are mainly reflected in the following four aspects:application of the multi-dimensional dialogue with the purpose of the communication between Chinese and Western culture;deconstruction of the concepts to highlight the univers al value of Confucianis m;the biblical s tyle adopted to enhance readers'cognition;image comparison to eliminate the strangeness of readers.This paper holds that Gu reinterprets The Discourses and Sayings of Confucius,enriches the meaning of the original text and finds the way of interpretation and expression of Chinese culture in the West.His translation presents to readers the equivalence and complementarity of Chinese and Western cultures and thoughts.
