摘　　要：通过测算宏观层面的高等教育质量指数,对全国和地区样本内高等教育质量提升所带来的“增长绩效”进行了综合检验。研究发现:首先,高等教育质量提升对经济增长带来了“直接效应”,即高校扩招以来虽然我国高等教育质量的提升幅度总体较小,但却不可忽视其在经济高速增长中的重要作用。其次,高等教育质量提升对经济增长带来了“间接效应”,即高等教育质量提升通过促进科技创新而间接地带来了社会总产出的增加。最后,在吸收外地高等教育质量提升对本土增长绩效的外溢作用的力度上,“直接效应”在东部地区最强,中部和西部地区则不显著;“间接效应”在东部和中部地区均为正,而在西部地区则为负,这与“西北有高楼”和“孔雀东南飞”的要素流向现实极为吻合。This paper comprehensively tests the“growth performance”brought by the improvement of higher education quality in national and regional samples by measuring the macro-level higher education quality index and constructing inter-provincial panel data model.The results show that:firstly,the improvement of higher education quality has brought about“direct effect”on economic growth,that is,although the improvement of higher education quality in China has been relatively small in general since the expansion of university admissions,the important role of higher education quality in the rapid economic growth can t be ignored;secondly,the improvement of higher education quality has brought about“indirect effect”on economic growth,that is,the improvement of higher education quality indirectly brings about an increase in total social output by promoting scientific and technological innovation;finally,in terms of the intensity of the spillover effect of absorbing the improvement of the quality of higher education in other regions on the growth performance of the local region,the“direct effect”is strongest in the eastern region,while the effects for central and western regions are not significant;the“indirect effect”is positive in both the eastern and central regions,while it is negative in the western region,which is in line with the factor flow reality of“there are tall buildings in the northwest”and“the peacocks fly southeast”.
