Feminist Translation Theory studies feminist consciousness embodied from translators in their renderings and speaks for women. It fights for women's right of speech and highlights female characters.Four Chinese translated versions of Gone with the Wind were taken as the research object, which abounds with feminist thought. The character of Scarlett in the translations of Gone with the Wind by the four translators of both genders was comparatively analyzed to explore feminist consciousness and expressions of female characters in various translated versions. The conclusions are as follows:Translators of both genders all have feminist consciousness and speak for women in their translated versions.Male transl ators distort female characters, but they have feminist consciousness as well.F emale transl ators protect and improve female characters, but traces of degrading women in the source text can be found in their translations.
