基于语料库的中美例行记者会模糊限制语应用研究

摘　　要：模糊限制语被频繁地应用于外交话语中,该文根据E.F.Prince对模糊限制语的分类,自建中美例行记者会对比语料库,采用定量统计、文本分析的方法,对中美外交部发言人模糊限制语的应用频率、分布模式等进行研究。结果表明,模糊限制语在口译子库(IE)和原创英语子库(OE)中均得到大量应用,口译子库(IE)中出现频率最高的是“some”“according to”,而原创英语子库(OE)中“some”“I think”出现频率最高;模糊限制语运用口译英语比原创英语显著减少,口译英语多使用间接缓和语,原创英语多使用直接缓和语;从语体正式程度和模糊程度来看,中方发言更正式、精确严谨,而美方发言更口语化、灵活变通。最后该文从模糊限制语的功能、语言使用原则、中美语言文化差异等方面解释了这一现象产生的原因。Hedges are frequently used in diplomatic discourse.This study is based on E.F.Prince's classification of hedges and a self-built comparative corpus of regular press conferences of China and the United States.Quantitative statistics and text analysis methods are used to study the application frequency,distribution patterns,and similarities and differences of hedges of spokespersons of the Chinese and the U.S.Foreign Ministry.The results show that both Chinese and the U.S.use a large number of hedges,with words such as "some" and "according to" being more frequently used in interpreted English,while words such as "some" and "I think" are commonly used in original English;the use of hedges in interpreting English is significantly reduced compared to original English,with interpreting English using more indirect moderators and original English using more direct moderators;in terms of the degree of formality and ambiguity in the language style,the Chinese side's speech is more formal,precise and rigorous,while the American side's speech is more colloquial and flexible.Finally,the article explains the causes of this phenomenon from the perspectives of the functions of hedges,language usage principles,and cultural differences between Chinese and American languages.
