《西和乞巧歌》英译本中的西和方言翻译策略研究

摘　　要：西和乞巧歌是一种歌谣,其内容丰富,合辙押韵,语调诙谐风趣,语言口语化特征明显。通过分析《西和乞巧歌》英译本中使用的翻译方法和技巧,探讨了西和特色方言的翻译策略,对方言翻译和歌谣翻译研究有较高参考价值。此书译者在翻译时灵活结合归化和异化的翻译策略,运用了异化翻译策略中的音译法、直译法和逐词翻译法,以及归化翻译策略中的意译法、仿译法和改译法,对不同的方言词汇根据语境使用了不同的翻译策略、方法和技巧,使得译文流畅、地道。然而,由于汉语方言书面化的困难,《西和乞巧歌》中部分方言词汇并未在书面文字中表现出来,且原语文本中所有的西和方言特征和口语化特征在译语中全部被抹杀了。尽管如此,用归化策略来翻译方言是让方言作品走向世界的方式。作为第一部关于西和乞巧歌的英译本,此书对于乞巧文化的传播具有深远的意义,其翻译策略使乞巧文化内涵在译入语中能够流畅表达,使得英语读者能较好地理解中国北方的乞巧文化。Qiqiao songs of Xihe County are a kind of ballad with diversified topics and rhythmic tunes.They are characterized by witty tone and colloquial language.The current study explored the translation strategies of Xihe dialects in the English translation of Xihe Qiqiao Songs by analyzing the translation strategies and techniques adopted by the translators,which will shed light on dialect translation and ballad translation.It was found that the translators of Xihe Qiqiao Songs combined domestication with foreignization in the translation process.Specifically,transliteration,literal translation,and word-for-word translation methods from the foreignizing strategy,together with liberal translation,imitation,and variation translation methods from the domesticating strategy were employed to translate Xihe dialect vocabularies in different contexts.The flexible use of translation strategies,methods,and techniques makes the English translation fluent and idiomatic.However,not all Xihe dialects were conveyed in the written form of Xihe Qiqiao Songs owing to the difficulty in transcribing the dialects in the written forms.Furthermore,all the dialectic and colloquial features in the source language were removed from the target language in the translation of Xihe Qiqiao Songs.Despite this,using the domesticating strategy to translate dialects is a commonly used approach to let dialectic works known to the world.As the first English translation of Xihe Qiqiao songs,the book has far-reaching significance for the dissemination of Qiqiao culture.Its fluent and natural expression of the connotation of Qiqiao culture in the target language enables English readers to better understand Qiqiao culture in northern China.
