摘 要:虽然已有较多研究关注企业科技人员流动及其伴随的知识溢出效应,但科技人员回流源企业(重返“老东家”)对其后续创新的影响及作用机理尚未获得充分考察。基于2007~2020年353331个新进入企业科技人员和19107个回流科技人员的独特数据集,本研究探讨了科技人员回流对后续创新的影响,并引入重构视角来重点剖析其中的作用机制。研究发现:(1)相较于新进入者,科技人员回流能显著提高后续的创新绩效;(2)科技人员回流主要通过知识重构与合作网络重构的中介作用实现更高的创新绩效;(3)科技人员过往创新绩效和职业生涯年限分别对上述中介作用起到正向和负向调节作用,即该间接影响在科技人员过往创新绩效较好时得到强化,但随其职业生涯年限延长而减弱;(4)后果检验表明,科技人员回流有助于提高源企业的整体创新水平。本研究丰富了企业科技人员流动领域的实证研究,从重构视角拓展了科技人员回流与个体创新绩效关系的理论理解,为企业人才招聘与管理提供了有益的决策参考。Although there are many studies focusing on the inventor mobility and the accompanying knowledge spillover effects,few studies examine the impact and mechanism of boomerang inventors(i.e.,returning to the source enterprise)on subsequent innovation performance.Using a matched data set of 353331 new hires and 19107 boomerang inventors from 2007 to 2020 of Chinese listed firms,this paper investigates the impact of the boomerang inventors on subsequent innovation,and we introduce a recombination perspective to meticulously dissect the underlying mechanism.We find that compared with new hires,boomerang inventors have a significant and positive impact on the subsequent innovation.The mechanism test shows that boomerang inventors help them to carry out the recombination of knowledge and cooperation network,which in turn improves the subsequent innovation performance.We also find that inventors'past innovation performance and career tenure exert positive and negative moderating effects on the aforementioned mediating role,respectively.That is,such an indirect effect of recombination is strengthened when inventors'past innovation performance is higher,while weakened with the extension of their career tenure.Additional test results show that boomerang inventors significantly improve the innovation performance of the source enterprise.This study enriches the empirical research on inventor mobility,expanding the theoretical understanding of the relationship between boomerang inventors and innovation performance from a perspective of recombination.It also provides valuable decision-making insights for firm talent recruitment and management.
