摘  要:王英杰教授是比较教育学科的知名学者,但他在高等教育研究领域也有着广泛与重要的影响。通过对美国高等教育特别是研究型大学发展历程的考察,他以比较视角对大学理念展开了长期系统和深入的探究。通过对哈佛大学、耶鲁大学以及斯坦福大学等案例的细致剖析,他精心刻画了这些世界一流大学所具有的个性与共性特征。在他看来,学术神圣是研究型大学的最高信念,是构成大学人才培养、科学研究、社会服务以及学术治理的核心价值,国际性、公开性、批判性与包容性是具体的价值内涵。学术自治与学术自由是维护学术神圣的制度基础,作为伦理领袖与道德楷模的大学校长的开明领导,体现学术民主的共同治理架构,倡导师生互动与多学科交叉的学术共同体建构,则是研究型大学的组织与制度保障。针对中国在创建世界一流大学过程中存在的浮躁现象,他提出稳定才是大学的力量,大学的办学行为需要遵循世界一流大学的共同规律,处理好“不变”与“变”两者之间的关系。稳定或者不变就是“守正”,发展或者说“变”则是在“守正”基础上的创新,如此才能在不忘根本的前提下,通过自主探索形成各大学自身的个性与特色。在对王英杰教授大学理念的学术观点加以梳理的同时,也以这样一位学科外关键人物为样本,分析其学术关注与高等教育学科相关议题之间存在的智识交流与互动关系,从而揭示高等教育学科与比较教育以及其他学科之间存在的互为学科性与学科交汇特征。Professor Wang Yingjie is a renowned scholar in the field of Comparative Education,but he also has a wide and significant influence in the field of higher education research.Based on the investigation of the development of American higher education,especially research universities,he has conducted a long-term systematic and in-depth exploration of university ideas from a comparative perspective.Through detailed analysis of cases such as Harvard University,Yale University,and Stanford University,he has meticulously depicted the individual and common characteristics of such world-class universities.In his view,academic sanctity is the highest belief of research universities and constitutes the core values of talent cultivation,scientific research,social service,and academic governance,with internationalism,openness,criticalness,and inclusiveness being the specific value connotations.Academic autonomy and academic freedom are the institutional foundations to safeguard academic sanctity,and the enlightened leadership of university presidents as ethical leaders and moral models,the shared governance structure that reflects academic democracy,and the construction of academic communities advocating teacher-student interaction and interdisciplinary cross-over,are the organizational and institutional guarantees of research universities.In response to the impetuous phenomenon in China’s process of establishing world-class universities,he proposes that stability is the strength of universities,and the operation of universities needs to follow the common rules of world-class universities,handling the relationship between“unchanging”and“change”.Stability or“unchanging”is“upholding righteousness”,while development or“change”is innovation based on it,thus forming the individuality and characteristics of each university through independent exploration without forgetting the basic premise.While clarifying professor WANG Yingjie’s academic views on university ideas,also such a key figure outside the discipl
