Onomatopoeia is a special existence in Japanese, which not only appears in the daily conversations of Japanese people, but also is widely used in manga, picture books and novels.Especially for the Japanese, onomatopoeia is a very convenient language,it is often used to express people's delicate feelings and human or animal sounds and so on.And onomatopoeia word formation is very simple,so it is welcomed by many Japanese. On the other hand, there are also many onomatopoeia words in Chinese that express human or animal sounds, which are equivalent to onomatopoeia words in Japanese. However, due to the different language systems of Chinese and Japanese, there are some differences between Chinese and Japanese onomatopoeia in terms of word formation, phoneme characteristics and notation. Therefore, this study takes Chinese and Japanese onomatopoeic words as the research object, starts from the word formation methods of Chinese and Japanese onomatopoeic words, and compares the word formation forms, phonemic characteristics, and notation methods of Chinese and Japanese onomatopoeic words. It is hoped that this study can provide some reference for learners in China and Japan.
