摘 要:中国近代教育从19世纪中叶开始,旧的教育体制逐步退出,到20世纪初新的教育体系逐步确立。在此过程中,狄考文夫妇创办的登州文会馆起了重要的引领和示范作用。登州文会馆的课程设置和教学组织形式迥异于中国传统的教育方式,它偏重于自然科学和技术教育,重视实验室和操作间建设以及实验手段和学生动手能力的培养。编撰切合学生实际的科学教育教材,厘定新式教材的编写原则,促进了数学、天文学、声学、光学、博物学、摄影等近代科学知识与技术在中国的本土传播,也开启了近代科学教育在中国的历程。Modern education in China began in the mid-19th century,as the old educational system gradually gave way,and a new educational framework was established by the early 20th century.In this process,Tengchow College,founded by Calvin Wilson Mateer and his wife,played an important leading and demonstrative role.The curriculum and teaching organization of Tengchow College differed significantly from traditional educational methods in China.It emphasized natural sciences and technical education,prioritizing the construction of laboratories and workshops as well as the cultivation of experimental skills and hands-on capabilities of students.The college compiled science education textbooks tailored to students'actual needs and established new principles for compiling modern textbooks.This helped to promote the localization of mod-ern scientific knowledge and technology in China,including mathematics,astronomy,acoustics,optics,natu-ral history,photography,etc.and marked the inception of modern science education in China.
