摘 要:诗歌作为我国古典文学精粹,凝结着深沉丰厚的中华文化,其外译传播是中华文化走出去的重要组成部分。本研究选取许渊冲与宇文所安杜诗译本,以典故为视点,借助社会翻译学中的“惯习”概念,从译者、策略、副文本三个角度分析探讨二人译者行为规律。研究发现:许渊冲和宇文所安的前导惯习及职业惯习深刻影响了其译者惯习的形成与发展,许渊冲“求美”及宇文所安“忠实”的译者惯习致使二人在英译杜诗典故的过程中呈现出截然不同的译者行为倾向:许渊冲追求美感,重在传递诗歌情感,贴近读者;宇文所安追求全面严谨,重在传递客观信息,贴近原作。本研究旨在从个案现象中提炼经验,以期为中国古典诗歌的译介研究提供参考。Chinese classical poetry is of strong cultural load and its English translation plays an important part in overseas promotion of Chinese culture.Du Fu,a representative poet of Tang dynasty,is a master of ingenious and elegant allusions of great cultural value.The paper,focusing on Xu Yuanchong and Stephen Owen,conducts a contrastive study of translation of allusions in Du Fu's poems,and analyzes the translator behavior from perspectives of translators,strategies,and paratexts on basis of“habitus”.It is found that their different initial habitus and professional habitus have shaped the disparate translator habitus.Xu's translator habitus of“Beauty Seeking”and Owen's translator habitus of“Faithfulness”have caused the differences in their translation behaviors.Xu pursues“Beauty”of poetry,focusing on conveying emotions of the original and being close to readers;Owen pursues a comprehensive and rigorous approach,focusing on the transmission of objective information and being close to the original.The findings of this study can shed some light to translation study of Chinese classical poetry.
