摘　　要：“政治作家”标签掩盖了奥威尔作为现代主义文学拥护者的面孔。奥威尔频繁关注、评论和借鉴英国现代派作家,他膜拜乔伊斯表现生活之真实,钦慕劳伦斯洞察人性之深刻,对艾略特早期作品中真诚的绝望击节称赏,并在此过程中与他们产生了颇具意义的文学关联与交集。在政治入侵文学的激进年代,奥威尔旗帜鲜明地为现代派作家辩护,捍卫其美学尊严,这也是他本人坚持文学艺术独立性的审美立场的表达。The label“political writer”obscured Orwell’s role as a supporter of modernist literature.Orwell frequently paid attention to,comments on,and drew inspiration from modernist writers.He admired Joyce for portraying the truth of life,admired Lawrence for his profound insight into human nature,and appreciated the sincere despair in Eliot’s early works.Throughout this process,he had developed significant literary connections and intersections with these writers.In the radical era of political invasion into literature,Orwell defended modernist writers with a clear stance and safeguarded their aesthetic dignity,which was also an expression of his aesthetic stance on the independence of literature and art.
