摘　　要：在翻译研究的文化转向和文化研究的翻译转向的背景下,随着翻译研究与文化研究的交叉共融,翻译和旅行书写之间的关系开始凸显。旅行书写可以视作一种无源文本的文化翻译,即将他者文化文本化的实践。本文以7部西方作家的在华旅行书写作品为研究对象,发现通过音译这种翻译方法保留汉语语言和文化的特征是一种比较突出的现象,这与西方译者通常将汉语异语特征最小化的行为形成鲜明对比。基于汉语音译,本文进一步阐释了当今语境下具有中国特色的英语在海外的生存空间,以期为中国文化在海外的传播和中国国家形象对外构建提供借鉴。As cultural turn and translational turn are under way,the growing convergence between the two areas makes the translation and travel writing more interconnected than ever.Travel writing could be regarded as an act of cultural translation without the source language text and an activity of textualizing other's cultures.This paper examines seven travel writings on China authored by Western writers,and the finding shows that the method of transliteration is frequently adopted,as against the once-dominant domestication,to preserve the characteristics of Chinese language and culture.Accordingly,based on the transliteration the paper explores the potentiality of English with Chinese characteristics in the Western context with a view to better promoting the Chinese culture and presenting the image of China.
