摘　　要：《吾国与吾民》是林语堂用英语阐释中国的民族传记作品,也是他以幽默体悟中国的文学史诗。他熟谙中国传统哲学要义,积极传播以中国哲学精神为核心的中国智慧。通过中西文化对比,他向西方读者展示了自己想象中的人文主义中国形象,某种程度上改变了西方读者对中国、中国人和中国文化的误解。结合自己对中国传统文化的认知和感悟,他在《吾国与吾民》中揭示了儒家哲学的现实主义精神,以及道家哲学的理想主义精神,并充分肯定中国哲学精神对中国文化发展和中国形象的塑造的重要贡献。My Country and My People is a national biography as well as a literary epic in which Lin Yutang interpreted China in English and sensed China in a humorous tone.As a master of philosophy,he was good at the essential knowledge about traditional Chinese philosophy and spread actively the Chinese wisdom centering on the spirit of Chinese philosophy.Through the comparison between Chinese and western cultures,he displayed a humanist China in his imagination,which to some extent changed western readers’misunderstanding about China,Chinese people and Chinese culture.Based on his own perception and inspiration,he revealed the realistic spirit of Confucianism as well as the idealistic spirit of Taoism in which he fully confirmed the significant contributions made by the spirit of Chinese philosophy to the advancement of Chinese culture and the construction of China’s image.
