摘　　要：精神疾患书写常被用来研究威廉·福克纳的作品,譬如《喧哗与骚动》中个体的隐匿式残损等,这是一种基于病态性考察并兼具批判性的文化追溯。在小说里,疾患表象下倒错的声闻形感知具有鲜明的历史文化意蕴。感觉障碍的昆丁沦为大家族展演的病态产物,从忧郁的症候走向认知的失能,直至“卡夫卡式的个人判决型自杀”,隐喻旧南方秩序的残败与消亡。然而,被忧郁情状控制的昆丁同时生发了一种“向死而生”的潜能,清醒的“自杀”抹去了“过去”的最后一点灵晕,预示着美国南方新秩序的诞生。Critics often focus on mental disability to explore the dormant impair-ment of individuals in William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury,reflecting a cultural and critical practice based on pathology.Faulkner's depiction of sensory disorder embed-ded in mental disability unveils the distinct value of culture and history in the novel.De-scending to the morbid product of his aristocratic family,Quentin suffers from a melancholic symptom of cognitive inability and,up to a Kafkaesque personal-judgment suicide,demonstrates the decline and collapse of the old social order.However,while struck by melancholy,Quentin was also empowered to generate a kind of potential for living to die.His sober suicide not only symbolically diffuses the last aura of the past but also heralds the birth of a new order in the American South.
