摘　　要：白居易诗歌以深切的现实关怀和浅近的艺术风味著称。来自新西兰的国际友人路易·艾黎旨在通过翻译白诗积极传播中国文化。译者注重白诗的思想价值和精神意义,并且从西方普通读者的角度出发,采用无韵自由体翻译,传达以民为本、讽谏警世、旷达通透、傲然不屈等内涵。艾黎的译文通俗、平实、亲切,体现了“基于读者”的翻译理念和大众化风格,为古诗在英语世界的广泛传播提供了有益参照。Bai Juyi’s poems are famous for the deep concern for reality and the plain artistic flavor.Rewi Alley,the international friend who comes from New Zealand,aims to spread Chinese culture actively by translating Bai Juyi’s poems.He pays close attention to ideological values and spiritual significance of the poems.For consideration of the ordinary western readers,he translates the poems in blank verse,which conveys the following connotations:people-oriented,satirizing and admonishing the public,broad mindedness,and also unyielding.Alley’s translation is popular,plain and amiable,which reflects the“reader-based”attitude and the style of popularity.It provides useful reference for wide dissemination of ancient Chinese poetry in the English world.
