摘  要:目标语导向下,间接翻译具有与直接翻译相同的功能,这使其成为翻译研究中不可忽视的领域。本文从形象学视角出发,聚焦《水浒传》间接译本Robbers and Soldiers,探讨间接翻译如何影响中国文学与文化在英语世界的传播。由于中介译本的滤镜效果,间接翻译抹去了儒家传统的忠义思想,增加爱情和女性母题,给西方读者呈现出一个浸润着个人主义与浪漫主义色彩的故事。间接翻译虽受到中介译本的影响,但它对中国文学文化形象构建发挥着重要作用。Indirect translation fulfills the same function as direct translation to the target society,which makes it an equally legitimate domain of translation research.The present article centers on Robbers and Soldiers,a renowned indirect translation of the Chinese classic Shuihu Zhuan,to reveal how indirect translation impacts the dissemination of Chinese culture in the Anglophone world from the imagological approach.The study finds that,due to the filtering of the mediated translation,the indirect translation has presented to the western readers a robber story different from that of the original but permeated with Western individualism and romanticism by erasing the traditional Confucian“loyalty”and“brotherhood”thoughts and adding the love and womanhood motifs.Indirect translation plays the same crucial role in the image construction of Chinese literature and culture as direct translation,although the former is inevitably influenced by the mediating text.
