摘  要:2013—2014年,约翰·怀特和哈维·席格曾就“哲学、教育哲学的基本定位以及两者之间的关系”展开了一场辩论。席格认为,由于教育哲学作为一门学科的地位没有得到“纯哲学家”的充分认可,损害了教育哲学的发展。于是他试图“提升”教育哲学的地位,邀请一些杰出的哲学家贡献他们的专业知识来处理各种教育问题,由此出版了《牛津教育哲学手册》(2009)。但怀特并不认同席格的做法,他主张教育哲学工作者应该专注于解决教育的实际问题,而不是赢得“纯哲学家”的认可。作为对怀特的回应,席格重申了自己的立场,声称自己的观点与怀特并无太大区别。实际上,怀特和席格之间争论的根本分歧在于,怀特基于杜威的哲学观,对解决教育实际问题有着更为迫切的意识,而席格的哲学观更加兼容并蓄,因此没有面临教育实际需求的压力。从怀特和席格的立场来看,我国教育哲学已经走上席格所主张的路线。然而,为了追求教育哲学的主体性,保证教育哲学的长远发展,教育哲学工作者实则应该对怀特的这条路线给予更多的思考,立身教育实际问题。In the second decade of this century,there was a debate between British philosopher of education John White and American philosopher Harvey Siegel concerning the respective characteristics of philosophy and philosophy of education and their relationship.Owing to the fact that the status of philosophy of education as an academic discipline had not been fully recognized by“pure philosophers”,the healthy development of philosophy of education was undermined as a result.Siegel attempted to“upgrade”the status of philosophy of education.His strategy was to invite some distinguished philosophers contributing their expertise to deal with various educational issues,thereby publishing of The Oxford Handbook of Philosophy of Education(2009).White did not appreciate Siegel’s approach and suggested that philosophers of education should busy themselves with solving practical problems of education,instead of winning the recognition of“pure philosophers”.In response to White,Siegel reasserted his position and claimed that his position was not that different from White’s.After careful examination of the debate between White and Siegel,the authors of this paper point out that White,based on Dewey’s notion of philosophy,had a more urgent sense of solving practical issues of education and that Siegel took a more comprehensive view of philosophy and not so pressurized by practical demands.Reflecting on White’s and Siegel’s position,the authors of this paper suggest that Chinese philosophy of education has already taken the line claimed by Siegel.Nevertheless,they argue that in order to pursue the subjectivity of philosophy of education and ensure its long-term development,philosophers of education should be pondering more over White’s line,taking root in educational issues.
