In contemporary French left-wing thoughts, the narrative tradition of reflecting on modern capitalism based on clarifying the relationship between technology and life is rooted in Foucault. He believes that capital relies on technological discourse to tame life in the name of governance activities, and that only by breaking free from the control of technological discourse and speaking independently, can life inherit the Marxist tradition of social criticism in ideology.Compared to Foucault,Stigler emphasizes more on the interaction between technological tools and technological language. He contends that technology has an irreplaceable function in preserving memory in human history, and that the infinite acceleration of technology in capitalist society renders its original function ineffective, putting life at risk of preservation. Therefore, the way to inherit Marxism lies in repositioning the historical efficacy of technology. From Foucault to Stigler, the French left-wing movement has formed two paths in"the technology-life"narrative,reflecting the vastly different interpretations of Marxism by current left-wing scholars.
