Food and Nutritional Economics is an emerging interdisciplinary field, and the study of food consumption and production increasingly requires analysis of nutritional and health factors. This not only represents a unique advantage for medical schools offering food and nutrition-related programs, but also promises to become a distinctive highlight in the training of professionals in the field of food within medical education. The challenge in teaching interdisciplinary courses lies in guiding students, who are accustomed to the study of food technology,to adopt a broader perspective beyond technical aspects such as food inspection, production, and preservation. It involves understanding food prices, supply, and individual nutritional choices from a more macroscopic standpoint.Innovations in teaching methods include developing cutting-edge and contextually relevant teaching materials, incorporating market research to provide students with practical insights into the food market, and strengthening formative assessments to enhance students’understanding of the food market and cultivating a keen interest in their field of study.
