摘　　要：大学教师发展是国家科技创新力的知识源头,是大学最为重要的人力资源。教师的质量与水平直接影响大学的学术产出及教育质量,并间接影响大学获取各种社会资源的能力。在推进教师成长与发展方面,美国大学已走在世界前列。面对高等教育内外环境的变化,美国大学自19世纪末起便形成了一系列有效的教师发展模式及成功经验,教师发展呈现出鲜明的特征。美国一流大学教师发展的内涵、历史、特征及经验对我国大学的建设具有参考价值。College teacher development is viewed as the knowledge source of national scientific and technological innovation,and is the most important human resource for universities.The quality and level of teaching staffdirectly affects the academic output and educational quality of universities,and will indirectly affect their ability to access various social resources.In promoting the growth and development of teachers,American universities have taken the lead in the world.Faced with changes in the internal and external environment of higher education,American universities have formed a series of effective models for teacher development and gained successful experiences since the late 19th century,which makes teacher development show distinct characteristics.The connotation,history,characteristics,and experience of teacher development in top universities in the United States will have the reference values for the construction of universities in China.
