摘　　要：外语教育的成败与否,相关因素固然很多,但外语学科师生的专业素养和思想力始终是外语教育的活水源流,能直接决定外语教育的质量和水准。其中,外语师生的专业素养是外语教育的压舱石,其思想力是外语教育实践和研究的基本前提。外语师生的专业素养涵盖母语和目标语的语言功力及文学修养,是外语学科的定海神针,是与其他学科交叉的最大识别度。思想力涵盖“五力”,即知识力、想象力、创新力、创造力和国际沟通力。其中,知识力是外语教育的基础,想象力和创新力是其根本,创造力是其关键,国际沟通力是其旨归。外语教育的进步和发展,需切实从根上抓起,即需要筑牢专业素养,倾力熏陶思想力。Many factors indeed determine the success or cause the failure of foreign language education.However,the professional competence and thinking ability of teachers and students involved in foreign language disciplines remain the“lifeblood”of foreign language education,directly determining its quality and standards.Specifically,the professional competence of teachers and students in foreign language disciplines serves as the“ballast stone”,while their thinking ability is the fundamental prerequisite for the practice and research of foreign language education.The professional competence encompasses linguistic proficiency and literary cultivation in both the native language and the target language,serving as the“anchor”for foreign language disciplines,being the most distinctive feature in cross-disciplinary integration.The thinking ability encompasses“five forces”,namely knowledge power,imagination,innovation,creativity and international communicative competence.Among them,knowledge power is the foundation of foreign language education;imagination and innovation are its essence;creativity is the key;and international communicative competence is the ultimate goal.This paper thus aims to advocate that the progress and development of foreign language education need to start from the root,which means strengthening professional competence and fostering thinking ability.
