变译理论视阈下《神雕侠侣》第一卷武功招式英译研究——以张菁译本为考察中心

摘　　要：武功招式作为金庸武侠小说《神雕侠侣》的重要组成部分,种类繁多、内涵丰富,其名称构建具有语言精炼、修辞广用、文化底蕴与历史积淀并重等特征。2023年10月,张菁英译的《神雕侠侣》第一卷Return of the Condor Heroes I于英国出版发行,这是金庸小说《神雕侠侣》首部英译本,对于中国经典武侠小说的国际传播具有重要意义。文章借助变译理论,结合定量和定性方法深入探讨不同变通手段下《神雕侠侣》第一卷武功招式名称的英译情况。分析结果表明:变译理论在《神雕侠侣》武功招式英译中得到了较好的运用,能够恰当顾及武功招式创建特征,传达其深层内涵,利于该书的推广与传播;同时,文本中部分未运用此理论的武功招式英译仍存在精简性、准确性、规范性欠佳的问题。若想达到更佳的外译效果,建议在变译理论指导下积极运用“增、减、编、述、缩、并、改、仿”8种变通手段,以解决中国武侠小说英译实践中所出现的难点问题。As a crucial part of Jin Yong′s martial arts novel Return of the Condor Heroes,martial arts moves are diverse in style and rich in connotation.Their names are characterized by concise language,wide use of rhetoric,and equal emphasis on cultural heritage and historical accumulation.In October 2023,Return of the Condor Heroes I translated by Zhang Jing,was published in the UK.This is the first English translation of Jin Yong′s novel Return of the Condor Heroes,which is of great significance for the international dissemination of Chinese classic martial arts novels.With the help of the variational translation theory,combining quantitative and qualitative methods,this paper probes into the English translation of the names of martial arts moves in the first volume of Return of the Condor Heroes under different flexible means.The analysis results show that the variational translation theory has been well applied in the English translation of the martial arts moves of Return of the Condor Heroes,which can properly take into account the characteristics of the creation of martial arts moves and convey its deep connotation,and is conducive to the promotion and dissemination of the book.At the same time,there are still some problems in the English translation of some martial arts moves without this theory,such as conciseness,accuracy and standardization.In order to achieve a better translation effect,it is suggested that under the guidance of the variational translation theory,the eight flexible means of“adding,subtracting,compiling,describing,reducing,combining,modifying and imitating”should be actively used to solve the difficulties in the translation of Chinese martial arts novels into English.
