摘  要:书法是中国语言和文化紧密联结的艺术形式,是一个丰富且宝贵的语言文化宝藏。因此书法教育应当,也正在国际中文教育中扮演独特且重要的角色。弗吉尼亚大学的书法课自2022年春季开设以来受到学生的高度肯定与认可。文章通过详细介绍弗吉尼亚大学书法课的开设背景与理念、教学内容与活动以及教学评估与反思来探讨如何充分挖掘书法这一宝藏课程的各种潜在价值,从而充分发挥其在语言、文学、艺术、哲学、历史学习以及情感需求与身心健康方面的多重功效。As a unique art form that closely unites Chinese language and culture,Chinese calligraphy is a rich treasure house,which has rightfully been playing an increasingly important role in Chinese language education world-wide.Unlocking the Treasure Box of Chinese calligraphy has been highly regarded and appreciated by students since its offering at University of Virginia(UVA)in Spring 2022.This paper will introduce the following aspects of this course:1)course design background and philosophy;2)teaching content and activities;and 3)assessment and reflection.The goal is to demonstrate how calligraphy class,when thoughtfully designed and implemented,can fulfill its many-folded potentials in cultivating students’growth of language,literature,art,philosophy,history,and social-emotional wellbeing.
