Schwartz理论框架下的大学英语教材价值取向研究——以《新编大学英语》为例

摘　　要：英语教材是外语教育政策落实的载体,对大学英语教材的价值取向研究,可以考察教材中呈现的价值观是否凸显学生的责任和使命。以Schwartz的价值取向理论为框架,从“开放”“自我增强”“保守”和“自我超越”这四个维度来揭示《新编大学英语》(第一至第四版)中选文内容呈现出的主要价值观,并进行了对比分析。研究结果显示:(1)四种价值取向在所选四个版本教材中的分布不均,第四版重视“开放”和“自我超越”价值取向,第二版和第三版中“开放”较凸显,第一版更突出“保守”这一维度。(2)“开放”“自我增强”和“自我超越”的价值取向占比从第一版至第四版逐渐升高,“保守”占比依次下降。研究结果为编写和修订我国新时代大学英语教材提供数据参考。English textbooks in China serve as the carriers for implementing foreign language education policies.Research on the value orientations reflected in college English textbooks can examine whether textbook compilation reflects student’s value-oriented responsibility.Based on the Value Orientation theory developed by Schwartz,this paper analyzes the distribution characteristics of various value orientation dimensions in the New College English(1st to 4th Edition),and evaluates the differences of each value orientation dimension presented in the textbook.The findings are as follows:1)The distribution of the four dimensions is uneven in each edition with the fourth focusing on“openness”and“self-transcendence”,the second and the third editions on“openness”and the first on“conservation”.2)The number of demonstrated words concerning“openness”,“self-enhancement”and“self-transcendence”gradually increases from the first edition to the fourth edition,while the number of“conservation”decreases.The findings of this study provide data reference for the compilation and revision of college English textbooks in the new era of China.
