摘　　要：英语委婉语是英语的重要组成部分。按照语言的交际功能,从夸张性委婉语和缩小性委婉语两个方面探讨了英语委婉语在社会生活中的运用,有助于人们提高言语素养及言语交际能力。The English euphemism is an important part of English. According to th e communicative function of the language, the authors make research on the use o f the English euphemism in the social life from the two aspects of overstatement euphemism and understatement euphemism, which will improve people’s language quality and comm unicative ability.
