摘 要:为定量地说明层次结构的合理性,研究了组织中知识和信息交流的折衷问题。从深度和广度两个维度来刻画知识,代理需要在两个维度间做折衷,代理间的信息交流是非完美的。将组织结构作为决策变量,证明了层次结构是对代理知识的最优配置。在这种结构下,代理间的信息传递结构表现为多个信息传递链,每个链呈现金字塔结构:底层代理处理外部信息,上层代理处理内部信息,由下向上,知识的广度逐渐增大,规模减小。说明了该结论与组织扁平化的理念是一致的。This paper studies the tra de -off between specialization and communication in organizational design to illus trate the hierarchy in organization. The analysis explores the implications of k nowledge with two dimensions: breadth and depth when perfect communication is i mpossible between them. Mathematical analysis of the nonlinear programming model where the organization structure is internalized as the decision variables show ed that a knowledge-based hierarchy is a natural way to organize the acquisitio n of knowledge. In such an organization, communication between agents is structu red as multiple chains. Each chain has a pyramid structure with specialists at t he bottom specializing in external information, and generalists at the top speci alizing in internal information. Each layer is smaller in size but wider in know ledge breadth than the previous one. The analysis shows that the results do not contradict the philosophy of flattening structures.
