摘 要:本文简要介绍了最新的语言加工模式后句法指派理论 ,并探讨了这一理论对外语教学的启示。L AST认为 ,语言理解是联想与符号计算两种过程的组合 ,人在理解过程中首先根据输入的表层线索形成意义 /形式假设 ,即假句法 ,然后根据句法规则生成完整的结构 ,并与输入序列进行对比 ,如果相符 ,则将结果存储到概念记忆中 ,进入下一句的理解。反之 ,则重复上述过程。句子是理解过程中联想信息和符号信息融合的自然层次。大量的研究证据无疑都支持上述理论 ,而且用这种理论可以更好地解释以前难以解释的一些心理语言学现象。同时 ,该理论对我们重新审视语言习得理论有重要意义 :人不同于其他动物 ,具有语言学习的能力 ,但外部刺激对语言发展起重要的作用 ,出现频率高的SVO结构先得到发展。这就为外语教学中传统教学法的应用提供了理论依据。The present article is a brief introduction to late assignment of syntax theory (LAST), the newest model of language processing, and a discussion of its implications for foreign language teaching. In LAST, language comprehension is a process in which association and symbolic computation are combined. The first stage of comprehension is the formation of initial meaning/form hypothesis (also called pseudo-syntax) on the basis of superficial clues in the input and sentence template, and then the complete syntactic structure is generated according to the syntactic rules of a language (also called real syntax). Finally, the structure so generated is compared with the input sequence. If a match is found, the result is stored in the conceptual memory. Otherwise, the above-mentioned process is repeated. The sentence is natural level of language on which associative information and symbolic information are merged. The findings of a large number of research studies support this theory. Furthermore, this theory can be applied to explain the research findings which previous theories cannot explain; it also sheds light on our understanding of language acquisition: human beings are different from other animals in that they have the ability to learn a language and the SVO structure that has a high frequency of appearance in every day language use is developed first, thus lending theoretical support to the traditional method of foreign language teaching.
