译介学视角下文化意象的传递研究——以《茶馆》两个英译本为例

摘  要:《茶馆》是老舍于1956年创作的著名话剧,反映了中国由清末到解放前三个时期的社会变化,其中蕴含了很多的文化意象。随着译介学的不断发展,译者更加关注文化差异。本文从译介学的角度,对《茶馆》英若诚和霍华的英译本为例,对其中文化意象的传递进行对比分析研究,来考察这两个英译本是否促进中国文化的传播与交流。本文研究发现,大部分的译文都能够很好地传播中国文化,推动世界文化的交流,并且意识到对文化意象的翻译要充分发挥译者的创造性,寻求恰当的翻译方法,这样才能使得译本更好地完成文化传播与交流的任务。Teahouse is a famous drama by Lao She, which has an extensive influence in China and contains a lot of cultural images. With the development of medio-translatology, translators pay more attention to cultural differences. From the perspective of medio-translatology, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the transmission of cultural images in Ying Ruocheng’s and Howard’s translation ver-sions of Teahouse, in order to examine whether the two English versions promote the spread and exchange of Chinese cultures. This study finds that most of the translation can spread Chinese cul-tures and promote the cultural exchange in the world. Through the study, it can be realized that translators should make full use of their creativity and seek appropriate translation methods, so that the translation can better popularize Chinese cultures.
