从赖斯的目的论视角浅析情景喜剧《老友记》中委婉语的翻译

摘　　要：委婉语是日常生活中常见的一种语言现象,人们使用委婉语来避免生活中尴尬或不适的场景。不同语言环境中委婉语各有不同,在情景喜剧中,委婉语可以为观众带来很强的喜剧效果,因此出现的频率较高。文章从赖斯的文本类型和目的论视角,选取经典美剧《老友记》的台词为例来分析情景喜剧中委婉语的翻译来探究中英委婉语如何翻译可为原文喜剧效果和观众服务。Euphemism is a common linguistic phenomenon in daily life, which can be used to avoid awkwardness or discomfort in different situations. Euphemisms differ across linguistic and cultural contexts. In sitcoms, euphemisms frequently appear as they enhance comedic effects for the audience. This paper analyzes the translation of euphemisms in Friends, a classic American sitcom, from the perspectives of Reiss’s text typology and Skopos Theory. By examining the translation of euphemisms in sitcom dialogues, the study explores how Chinese-English euphemism translation can preserve the original comedic effect and cater to the target audience.
