英汉语言的文化差异与翻译的“忠实”

摘　　要：导致硬译、死译等现象出现的原因是译者对翻译忠实的片面的理解,忠实的翻译不应是语言形式的等值转换,而应是用译入语去体现两种文化的差异性。合格的译者在掌握两种语言的同时必须对其所负载的文化有深刻的理解,熟知两种文化的差异,并在此基础上采用符合译入语的思维方式和表达习惯的语言形式去体现两种文化的差异性才算是做到了翻译的忠实。The mechanical translation results from the translator's one-sided understanding of what faithfulness is in translation. Faithful translation does not just mean equivalent switch of the linguistic forms but that the cultural differences of the two languages should be represented with the. target language. A qualified translator must have a profound understanding of the cultures earried in the two languages besides a good mastery of the two languages. Therefore, a translator must know the cultural differences involved in the two languages and on this basis he/ she should adopt the way of thinking and expression conventions complying with the target language to embody the cultural differences of the two languages. Only in this way can faithfulness be achieved.
