摘　　要：外语教学中对于超音段音位在听力理解中的作用之研究并不多见,本文研究了英语的重音、节奏、语调等超音段音位在语言信息传递中的重要作用。英语的重音定时节奏决定了其它一些语音特征的存在,如元音的弱化、元音的省略、同化、停顿和连音。这些都无疑成了听懂英语的障碍。重读音节是承载新信息、强调重要信息的音节。语调的变化表明它具有表态功能、重音功能、语法功能和语篇功能。Up to now little research has been found on the role of the suprasegmentals in listening comprehension.So,this research investigates the function of the suprasegmental elements:stress,rhythm and intonation in the transmission of linguistic messages.Stressed syllables are the ones that bear new information or emphasize important information.The English time-stressed rhythm determines the existence of other phonological features,such as weakening of vowels,elision,assimilation,pause and linking,which all add difficulties to the perception of connected speech.The changes of intonation indicate that it has attitudinal,accentual,grammatical and discourse functions in connected speech.Therefore,the author suggests that in listening classes teachers analyze the role of suprasegmental elements in speech perception to help students improve these aspects of their pronunciation as well as their listening comprehension.
