摘　　要：彰武县地处医巫闾山的东北边缘,是辽北地区与辽西地区的接触地带,地理位置十分重要。平安堡遗址位于彰武县兴隆山乡赵家村平安堡屯以西约0.5公里的一块砂土岗地上,南距彰武县城9.6公里,西距柳河7.5公里,东邻郑家屯至大虎山铁路线(图一)。The site is situated at Ping'anbao Village, Xinglongshan Township, Zhangwu County, on a sandy-earth hill near the right bank of the Xiliu River, and measures 150,000 sq m. It was excavared in an area of 1300 sq m by the Liaoning Provtnical Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics and the Archaeology Department, Jilin University, with 187 ash-pits, 8 house-foundations and 18 tombs revealed and more than 500 intact and restorable pottery, gone, bone, shell and bronze objects unearthed. The cultural remains can be divided into three phases. The first phase comprise only a few ash-pits and belongs to the Neolithic Hongshan culture. In the pottery are flat-bottomed cylindric jars with zigzag patterns, bowls of red ware, and shards with painted designs. The material indicates that the distribution of the Hongshan culture reached in the east the northern area of Liaoning Province. The second phase represents the transition from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age in northern Liaoning. The remains include six ash-pits and a tomb. Among the pottery vessels are both the flatbased cylindric jar characteristic of the Neolithic and the pocket-legged tripod featuring the Bronze Age. As this complex possesses trasitional traits and is known for the first time, it is tentatively named the Pinf'anbao H type. The third phase belongs to the Gaotaishan culture of the early Bronze Age. h includes housefoundations and tombs. On the basis of stratiyraphic evidence and comparason of the objects unearthed, the former can be divided into successive three stages, and the latter, two stages. The discovery is important for studying the character, contents, periodization and other problems of tne Gaoshantai culture and constitutes the main achievements of the excavation.
