摘　　要：两种意见,一样欢迎《英汉应用语言学词典》出版后,幸蒙各位朋友不吝赐教。单是alliteration这一条,就有三个人来信:暨南大学王越教授,北京师范大学某教授,还有深圳大学缨铠先生。这其中。The writer is of the opinion that in a moderate-sized English-Chinese dictionary, the editor not only has to choose common words for inclusion but also to concentrate on common meanings in current use. He holds that in translating an English word, one can at best approximate its contemporary usage, never give an equivalent in historical origins and ancient cultural implications.
