摘　　要：霍克斯在翻译《红楼梦》时运用多种翻译方法来传旨达意,文内解释是其中一种有效的翻译方法。将解释放入文章正文内,一则可以增补信息,有效传播源语文化,二则可以避免打扰读者,是译文更具可读性。The method of adding explanation in text is one of effective translation methods David Hawkes has ever employed in his translated version The Story of Stone. It has some distinguishing advantages. Firstly,it can effectively and completely convey the culture of source text by supplementing some necessary additional annotation between lines; then,it is because the explanation is added in text that readers will not be distracted from reading.
