摘 要:Somatostatin (SS) content of the hypothalamic periventricular area (PVA) and themedian eminence (ME) and their changes following hypophysectomy (HYPOX) and HYPOX plus the administration of supraphysiological amount of growth hormone (GH) were compared between young (2 ̄4 months old) and old (22 ̄28 months old) male rats by radioimmunoassay. There was no marked difference in SS content of PVA in both age groups, while SS level in the old rat ME wasconsiderably lower than that in the young rat (P < 0. 01 ). Following HYPOX, SS content of PVA and ME was significantly reduced in both age groups. However, if compared with their control values,respectively, the reduction amplitude of the old rat is only 1/2 times as that of the young rat. InHYPOX+GH animals, if compared with their HYPOX values, respectively, a decrease in SS content in the PVA was not found in either age rat, but was remarkably elevated in the ME in both age groups,moreover, the elevated amplitude of the young rat was 2-fold as that of the old rat.
