摘　　要：参考Gardner的态度/动机量表(AMTB)编制适用的调查问卷,多维度考察了美国哥伦比亚大学汉语初级和中级水平的学习者学习汉语的动机构成,分析了对提高汉语学习成绩有促进作用的动机因素,并提出了在美国这种单一英语教学环境下工具型动机优于融合型动机的观点。This paper presents a multi-dimensional investigation into the motivation constitution of primary and secondary level learners of Chinese at Columbia University. A questionnaire is developed with reference to Gardner's Attitude/Motivation Test Battery(AMTB). Based on the data collected, an analysis is made of the factors that promote Chinese learning, which is then followed by a view that instrumental motivation is superior to integrative motivation under the English teaching environment in U.S.A.
