摘　　要：体育竞赛是体育运动的基本特征 ,这是体育运动的竞技性和体育运动作为组织化的社会文化方式决定了的。本文探讨了体育竞赛与奖励的关系 ,作为奖励方式的奖牌的全部意义是对能力的确认 ,因此它们本身只是一种象征。最后提出The competition has become a requisite part of sports movement, which is determined by the sports' characteristics of competitiveness and systematism. In this paper the relationship between competitions and prize awarding was discussed. The author holds that the whole significance of medals, the means of encouragement, lie in the affirmation of athletes' ability and that they are only of symbol meaning. It is concluded the prizes in competitions are a unification of utility and disutility.
