摘　　要：亚言语是建立在语言交际和篇章功能基础上的一种新的指导写作和阅读的理论。本文通过对一所师范大学的英语专业三年级学生进行实验，研究亚言语在英语写作中的作用。研究结果证明，在外语写作课上讲授亚言语是提高学生写作水平的一个行之有效的方法，因为它能使学生在写作的过程中考虑到了读者因素。本文还探讨了亚言语对英语写作教学的启示。Metadiscourse is a new theory of reading and writing which is based on the interpersonal and textual functions of language. This article presents an experimental study of the effect of teaching metadiscourse in the Chinese EFL writing class. Research findings indicate that teaching metadiscourse is an effective way of improving learners' writing ability as it can raise learners' consciousness of readers in their writing. This article also discusses the pedagogical implications of metadiscourse in writing.
