After “linguistic turn” in the field of philosophy, the pendulum has now swung from the long-dominating notion that “I am speaking language” to the new concept that “language is speaking for me”. It sets us reinterpretating the role of the translator. The theory of intertextuality has upset subject-centrism and engendered dialogues among authors, readers, translators and languages. In translation, a translator is traditionally regarded as the subject or the speaker, but now perhaps it is time for us to make a new hypothesis: when translating, the translator is, to some extent, manipulated by the target language as well as the source language.
