摘　　要：元认知理论为帮助了解写作者的写作过程及他们在写作水平上的个体差异提供了新的思路。本文介绍了近年来国内外基于该理论的英语写作研究成果，并在此基础上总结出其主要贡献。文章还分析了此领域内有待探索的课题以及未来研究的趋势。Metacognitive theories pioneer a way to students＇ writing processes and help understand individual differences in writing competence. This paper reviews the metacognitve researches on English writing both at home and abroad. The researches contribute greatly towards English writing; however, there are some questions that have been untouched and remain to be solved. Future research in this area hence is suggested.
