The dish habit, dining separately ,the same to dining together with which we are familiar, has a long history in China. Since the Shang and Zhou dynasty, the Chinese people had been accustomed to this habit. This is inextricably linked with the rigid hierarchical system of that time, and is adapted to the people's living habits as well. Form the dynasty Sui andTang, the diet style of dining separately started to evolve into dining together. And in the Song Dynasty this diet style had been consolidated. Because it met the Chinese psychosocial needs of food, thus it had been further strengthened in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Finally it has become modem Chinese living habits. The evolution of the diet style is not just simple shifts of people'sliving habits, but has a close relationships with social developments, national integration, and the changes of the people's value system.
