摘　　要：中国四大古典名著之一《水浒传》中有很多四字格结构的词语,这被认为是汉语的主要特点之一。在西德尼.沙皮罗的英译本中提供了很多精彩的四字格结构的英译范例。本文主要从汉、英两种语言中意合及形合的角度对汉语四字格结构的英译进行分析和讨论。The Chinese classic Outlaws of the Marsh abounds with numerous four-Chinese-character structures, which are viewed as one of the major characteristics of the Chinese language. Sidney Sharpiro presents us with many examples of his skilled translations in his works. In this article, the author mainly discusses English translation of those four-Chinese-character structures at length in terms of parataxis and hypotaxis.
