摘　　要：本文回顾中央广播电视大学建校30年来公共英语课程在课程建设、教学实施方面的发展历程,重点讨论入选2007年"国家精品课程"的最新一代电大公共英语课程——"开放英语"在针对远程开放教育学生特点进行教学模式及教学手段改革方面所进行的探索,以期对面向新世纪远程教育教学资源的开发和建设有所启示。This article reviews the 30-year history of the development of TVU's public English course, with a focus on ″This is English″, the latest edition of TVU public English course which has been selected as the National Excellent Course 2007. We hope the exploration we made in the reform of instructional mode and teaching methods targeting distance education learners will inspire the development of DE teaching resources in the new century.
